TON OF BUTTER STOLEN
LOSS IN INVERCARGILL (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, March 6. A ton of butter has been stolen from tlie factory of the Invercargill Dairy Company, Limited. Forty-one boxes of bulk butter had been stored in (lie factory just outside the freezer and on Monday morning the police were informed that it had disappeared. In order to remove such a large quantity of butter, for each box weighed 5611), the thieves must have used a motor lorry. It is thought that they entered the premises in the early hours of Monday morning. Jlow the thieves expect to dispose of the butter, which was made in Tiinaru and is not likely to keep long out of the freezer, is a puzzling feature of the robbery. Tlie Invercargill Dairy Company recently disposed of its business to the Farmers’ Dairy Federation, Limited, which did not take over the stock until Monday. The butter was therefore, stiil the properly of the Invercargill Dairy Company.
