MELBOURNE SALES RECORD (9 a . m .) MELBOURNE, March 6. All all-time record was established at Newmarket when SO yearlings were sold for 78,175gn5. The average of 977gns. beat the previous record made the first day of last year’s sales, when 77 lots averaged OOlgns. The top price of 3100gns. was paid by the Sydney trainer, It. H. Abbott, for a colt by Lawmaker from Wottnra. A colt by Hellespont from Mirambeck and a 'filly by Hellespont from Comedy Wind both fetched 2200gns, gallopeiTdestroyed (11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 6. The lightweight Australian Cup hope, Project, was destroyed at Flemington yesterday. He broke his near hind leg when galloping.
