DIPHTHERIA CASES
ONE DEATH REPORTED MOHAKA AND WHANGARA Two cases of diphtheria, one of which proved to be fatal, were reported to the Health Department during the past week. A male infant, aged 12 months, admitted to the Wairoa Hospital from Mohaka, died last Thursday. The second case is that of another male infant, also aged 12 months, at Whangara. These are the first cases of diphtheria in the Gisborne health district since June of last year.
Other notifiable diseases reported in the past week were one case of scarlet fever, one of tetanus and two of bacilliary dysentery.
