AVIATION CONFERENCE MR. DRAKEFORD DEPARTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 4. A plenary session of the civil aviation conference, which extended over 41 hours, was held at Parliament Buildings on Saturday, when the reports of the various committees were considered. The conference also dealt with a number of miscellaneous matters it wished to have decided before the departure of the leader of the Australian delegation, the Minister for Air and Civil Aviation, Mr. A. S. Drakeford, who left Ohakea about midday yesterday on his return to Australia. Mr. Drakeford travelled from Wellington to Ohakea by car and crossed the Tasman in the Liberator aircraft in which he came to New Zealand just over a week ago. The Australian director-general of civil aviation, Mr. D. McVey. will act as leader of the Australian delegation for the remaining deliberations of the conference. The committees will resume work today. ’ and there will be another full session of the conference on Tuesday. It is expected that the conference will finish either that day or Wednesday.
