DEFENCE AND TRADE
EMPIRE CO-ORDINATION IMPROVED SYSTEM LONDON, March 3. An improved system of co-ordination and consultation for Empire defence is receiving particular attention in important preliminary discussions on defence and trade going on between Britain and the Dominions, says the Sunday Times. One method suggested is- the establishment of an organisation similar to the Military Staffs Committee of the United Nations, with appropriate functions in relation to Imperial defence. The nature of the new machinery has not yet been decided and it will be examined at the forthcoming conference of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers. All the Commonwealth Governments are reported to be concerned regarding the need for improved machinery and recognise that the;, have individual and collective responsibilties to the Commonwealth which are emphasised by world conditions.
