GERMAN PLIGHT UNIFIED RATIONING POWERS TO CO-OPERATE LONDON, March 1. The occupying Powers have moved to unity food rationing throughout Germany, says the Berlin correspondent of the Associated Press of America. The move resulted from the sharp reduction announced by Lord Montgomery. America and Russia have proposed that the feeding .of Germany should become the four Powers’ concern instead of being kept on a zonal basis. An official announcement said that the food question was raised at an Allied Control Council meeting by the British representatives. Marshal Gregory Zhukov (Russia), in an informal discussion, strongly supported fourparty uniformity in feeding Germany. Lieutenant-General Lucius Clay (U.S.) said he was also in favour. The council was agreed on the very serious nature of the food problem and emphasised that it was not solely a British problem. The correspondent says the German press and radio has begun to prepare the people for more feed cuts.
