UNO PEACE FORCES

American military officials have decided tentatively that the United States contribution to the United Nations’ police force shall be predominantly air and sea power, with a relatively small ground force, says the New York Times' correspondent in Washington. The joint Chiefs of Staff are at present considering the exact size of the forces and are expected to reach a decision before the Security Council's Military Staff Committee meets at New York on March 21. The American contribution to the oeace force is subject to ratification by a majority of the House and Senate after the entire United Nations’ programme is drawn up.
