Nelson Philatelist’s Discovery
A discovery of interest to philatelists has been made by Mr. C. J. Du Flou, of Nelson, says the Evening Mail, Nelson. When inspecting a fourpenny vermilion Queen Victoria, Great Britain, 186 a issue stamp, he found that the plate number (9) was reversed on the left side of the stamp. The stamp was sent to Britain where it has been referred to experts, who state that they had never previously heard of the printer s error found by Mr. Du Flou. Particulars of this unusual feature (which shows quite clearly on an enlarged photograph of the stamp) will now be catalogued in philatelic publications both in Britain and New Zealand.
