SHEEP VALUES LOWER STORTFORD LODGE BEEF ABOVE SCHEDULE • S.R > HASTINGS. Fob. 14. All classes of sheep showed a drop in prices at the Stortford Lodge sale yesterday, when the selling was lairly free at reduced price levels Lambs made up the main portion of the yarding of 3000 head. Due to the absence of railway trucks until next Monday, local farmers provided the main buying
power. The best woolly lambs depreciated a further 2s a head, n good line selling Other good pens made from !)s K>d to Hs and lighter Gs -Id. The main entry of. shorn lambs was an offering of 2(100. 'Of these the tc/.s of the ewe lambs brought 12s. with the tail end making 3s fid to 4s Out of this draft the main pens Oi wether lambs sold in lots at 7s and 7s 3d. Extra good early shorn lambs brought 13s. Fat and forward wethers brought -is 7d. with good two-tootbs making 18s fid. ~ Two-tooth ewes were most difficult to quit, useful sorts making 18s, with others being cleared at between 11s to 13s per head. Beef in Demand
Beef was in demand when quality pens sold at a margin above schedule. The yarding of 2GO head included a good percentage of quality pens. Young female and ox beef, suitable for the summer trade, made premium rates. The only pen of extra heavy bullocks brought from £l7 16s to £2O 3s Gd. A single heavy bullock made £l7 3s Gd Light ox made from £l3 13s Gd to £l4 18s fid. Prime A.A. heifers, of quality, sold at from £l2 Is to £l2 12? fid. while cows sold at up to £lO 13s Gd. Prime P.A. heifers made £ll 13s Gd. while medium cows made £9 Is. Prime heavy heifers ranged from cil 8? fid to £l3 8s fid and cows from £lO 3s fid. Other heavy cows brought to £l2 18s 6d. medium making from £8 13s fid to £9 8s fid. and light £7 18s fid down to £6 13s fid. Medium heifers ranged from £8 13s fid to £0 13s fid, small £7 13s Gd.
