HOSPITAL BOUGHT

COST OF £600,000 AUCKLAND UNDERTAKING The purchase of the Middlemore Hospital for ,£(100,000 from the War Assets Realisation Board has been approved by the Auckland Hospital Board. The terms, agreed to in discussions with the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, on February 2. provide that all work in hand and planned to date must be completed to the board’s satisfaction. Mr. J. Grierson, chairman of the board's finance committee, said the figure of £600,000 worked out at £2OOO a bed for 300 beds, not counting the extra beds which could be installed without additional services. This was very much less than what it would be on building costs to-day.
