POLISH REFUGEES

CHILDREN IN AUCKLAND BISHOP’S INVITATION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 14. Twenty-one Polish refugee children from the Pahiatua camp have come to Auckland at the invitation of Bishop Liston and are being cared for by the Catholic community.

Two girls, each 19 years of age. have entered the Mater Misericordiae Hospital to begin three years’ training in the public wards for the nurses' certificate.

Nine other girls are guest boarders at the Sacred Heart Convent, Remuera, St. Mary’s College, and other Catholic boarding schools in the city. Ter boys are attending the Sacred Heart (Marist Bros.) College and St. Peter’s (Christian Brothers), two being boarders at the former and the remainder accommodated in private homes chosen by Bishop Liston. All have grown to love New Zealand and are beginning lo forget the hardships and sufferings experienced when orphaned in their native land.
