NEW ZEALAND CADETS SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES (P.A.I WELLINGTON. Feb. 13. “After a course at the Army school of instruction, Trentham, five young men have been selected as New Zealand’s 1946 entrants to the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr. F. .Jones, yesterday. “Applications were received from all parts of New Zealand. The following are the names of the successful candidates. with brief particulars of thenschool careers: — John Brooke, received nis secondary education at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, where he was ccredited for university entrance in 1945. He was a school prefect and egimental sergeant-major in the school cadets. He played for the first Ru.byfifteen and the first cricket eleven. He was also prominent in athletics, tennis, swimming, Rugby and cricket. John Ross Clarke was a pupil of Wellington College, where he was accredited for university entrance in 1945. He achieved distinction in swimming and running. He held the rank of platoon commander in the college cadets and played Rugby and cricket. Harding Ronald Rochfort attended the Napier Boys’ High School, where he obtained a pass in the university entrance in 1943. He was a member of the second Rugby fifteen and was prominent in tennis. He held the rank of sergeant-major in the school cadets. I-lonnor Harry Bowen obtained' a pass in the uinversity entrance examination in 1944 and the higher leaving certificate in 1945 as a pupil of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He captained the first soccer and first cricket teams and was a member ol the first Rugby fifteen. He was awarded medals for swimming and lifehaving and was an N.C.O. in the school cadets. Treacher Robert Kenneth received nis secondary education at the Auckland Grammar School, where he was accredited for university entrance in 1945. He was a prefect, vice-captain of the first soccer eleven, a member of the cricket eleven, and prominent in swimming. He held the rank of sergeant in tlie cadets.
