DEPORTEES’ PLIGHT
PACKED IN SOVIET CAMP RED CROSS DISMAYED <lO a.m.) VIENNA, Jan. 29 Sixty thousand Italian, Czech and Polish deportees were recently concentrated in a displaced persons camp, controlled by Jhe Russians, and which was constructed to house only 2CG... reports the Daily Mail’s correspondent. Officers of the Red Cross were dismayed at the conditions prevailing. The deportees are victims of mass evictions from the central European countries, including the recent mass movement of a large number of German settlers from Yugoslavia to which the Allies have not yet agreed. TTie correspondent adds that the Red Cross officials, with British and authorities, were trying to persuade the Russians to prevent the unauthorised of helpless families. ■ :\
