NO COMPROMISE
AUSTRALIAN LIBERALS FIGHT FOR ERADICATION COUNTRY PARTY GROUP (9 a.m.) CANBERRA, Jan. 30. Rather than compromise, the Liberal Party Federal M.P., Mr. T. Malcolm Ritchie, is prepared to fight the Country Party in an attempt to eradicate it from the Australian political scene. Yesterday he told the opening session of the Liberal Parly executive that there was room in Australia for only one political party' whose creed and practice was opposed to Socialism. It was a great pity that previous political endeavours had led the people opposed to Socialism into two camps. Obviously the right thing to do was to join the two forces, but proposals for amalgamation were unacceptable to the Country Party. An immediate decision was necessary. The Liberal Party has 825 branches and more than 100,600 members.
