Radio Apparatus at Beacon

Permission to use the lower half of the sea beacon near Stanley road as a station to install a radio transmitter and receiver for the use of its radio emergency control was given the Gisborne branch of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters at this week's meeting of the Gisborne Harbour Board. The association in applying for permission undertook to meet all expenses for power and to take strict care of the board's property. In moving that the association be allowed the use of the beacon quarters, the chairman, Mr. A. J. NicoJ, said that before the war the association had rendered valuable assistance. Formerly it had used the signal station.
