WORK AT Y.M.C.A.

FURTHER ALTERATIONS GROUNDS INCLUDED A progressive plan of improvements to the facilities of the Gisborne-Easl Coast Y.M.C.A. is being proceeded with and a continuation of the alterations made last year is now undei way. Last year additional rooms were built anil a hot-water service installed for showers. The extra rooms are being painted and alterations are bemji made to others to provide a library and study room and a lounge and meeting room for members. The rifle range is being put into better condition in order that the new season may commence with an increased programme. Attention is to be given to the grounds. With the assistance of equipment loaned by the Gisborne Borough Council and the voluntary help ot members, the surrounding grounds are being altered. It is proposed to sow new lawns and plant shrubs to beautify the site generally. In the front of the building an ornamental stone seat will be erected and it is hoped that it will be possible to build a sun dial. Before this can be done however, a dial and quadr.Mt will have to be secured and the association is anxious to procure these. The directors of the association consider that the Y.M.C.A. has the <:duity to become one of Gisborne’s beauty spots and are anxious to make an effort in this direction.
