.) Mcsdnmes F. W. Kortc and H. Bulst were ’{he hostesses at a happy party tendered to .Miss Davenport at -Mrs. Bulst’s residence, Motu Valley road, on Thursday afternoon. Thu guests included all the local friends and some from Kakauroa. Tito weather was ideal for tennis and clock golf, and a delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and friends, beside tho tennis court, and later all assembled on the lawn and verandah while the bridesmaid-to-be, Miss Betty Davidson, assisted Miss Davenport to open tho gift parcels. Mrs. F. \V. Korte voiced tho good wishes of all present for tho bride-to-be’s future happiness, and tho latter expressed her thanks for tho gifts. Mrs. Bulst apologised for the absence of Mesdames Noreross, E. Ward, G. It. ltobb and W. Mortiemnn, who were unable to be persent, each of whom sent along a gift.

On .Saturday afternoon Miss Davenport was entertained at Mr. and .Mrs, T. Kedpathi’s home at Uakauroa, Miss L. .McLean, Otoko, assisting Mrs. Redpath as joint hostess. Among those present were Mrs. and Miss Davenport, Mrs. and Miss Davidson; Mrs. T. A. Redpath, and Miss L, McLean, Miss H. Redpath and her three guests from Christchurch, Mesdnmes C. Hutchinson, P. Pnrnm, R. C. and S. Beaufoy and Miss L. Ueaufoy. Mesdnmes G. Smart. N. Backhouse, I*. Piimer, Smith, sen., and Miss M. McLean. Matawni friends included Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Korte, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Gibson, Mrs. S. Thompson and Jennifer. A delectable afternoon ten was served in the open. Several competitions were puzzled out, and the winners wero Mrs. G. Miller and Miss Shearman. Mrs. Redpath. on behalf of the, company, expressed good wishes and much happiness for the bride-to-be in her new sphere of life, and presented a clothes basket full of “kitchen” utensils as n token of the esteem in which the guest of honour was held. Miss Davenport expressed her thanks. Miss Davidson then snipped the strings from the gifts, which were displayed by the bride-to-be for everyone to see. Mr. C. V. Smith met with a slight accident on Saturday. The Misses R. and G. Shearman and Miss M. O.gill nro the guests of Miss H. Redpath, Rakauroa. The Matawai Dog Trial Club is being resuscitated. The first, meeting for five years will he held in aid of the Memorial Hall fund towards the end of March.
