BEER INCREASE
STATEMENT WITHDRAWN SYDNEY. Jan. 29. After all the newspapers had featured a statement by the Minister of Customs, Senator R. V. Keane, of an immediate 25 per cent, increase in the beer quota, he now claims “misconception” of his statement. Senator Keane said the brewers had been authorised to bring forward one week’s supply from February to January and carry this back to March. Consequently, February and Man would see no increase. He did not know what would happen after that.
