Advice has been received that Mr. E. Fretz will arrive in the Dominion shortly to act as Chancellor of the Swiss Consulate. —P.A.

Appointment as a war correspondent with commisioned rank, and attachment to the New Zealand brigade which will proceed from the Central Mediterranean area to Japan as part of the British Commonwealth token force, has been secured bv a former member of the Gisborne Herald staff, Mr. J. Jones, who went abroad with the 11th reinforcement of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., and served in the Italian campaign before being invalided out of his unit, the Divisional Cavalry.
