TORRENTIAL RAINFALL

N.S.W. DROUGHT ENDS BROKEN HILL ISOLATED 9.30 a.rn.) _ SYDNEY, Jan. 19. Torrential rains have broken the long drought in north-west New South Wales on Thursday night and yesterday morning it rained in parts of the west as it has not rained for years. Broken Hill, completely isolated by rail yesterday because of heavy washouts along the lines, is rejoicing as three years of water supply fills an almost empty reservoir. Among tiie trucks derailed by washouts are water trucks rushing to Broken Hill to assist to combat the drought conditions. Sydney had a humid day with steady rain in the afternoon.
