GROUNDED IN BAHAMAS

rondeau park arrives CARGO UNDAMAGED (P A ) AUCKLAND, Jan. 19. Structural damage to the forepeak was suffered by the Canadian Park Line's 7138-ton vessel Rondeau Park, which arrived yesterday from Montreal, when she ran aground in the Bahama Islands on the voyage. Under Captain J. McKie, the Rondeau Park left Montreal on November 28 with general cargo for Auckland, via Panama. The mishap occurred at Mayaguana' Island on December 10, and the vessel was aground for about two days before being towed off by two tugs. It is believed that the cargo was not damaged. Because of the delay m the time of her voyage, the expense involved in refloating the ship and repairs, a general average of 2 per cent has been declared. Included in the cargo are newsprint, salt, and spirits. Four bulls and nine Southdown rams were carried under shelter a s deck cargo. On the voyage across the Pacific the Rondeau Park took mail to Pitcairn Island and took aboard six passengers.
