VISIT DECLINED

LIFE-SAVING CLUBS

AUSTRALIAN CARNIVAL (PA.) WELLINGTON, Jail. 18. Because of transport difficulties and the fact that many clubs are still awaiting the return of members from overseas, the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association has declined an invitation to send a team to take part in the Australian championships in March. It will also not be possible for delegates to attend the conference of instructors. The transport difficulties are due, in the main, to the absence of any guarantee from Australia in the matter and also because no information could bo given regarding the return of the team to New Zealand. It is hoped, however, that it will be possible to have one of the chief Australian instructors present at the annual meeting of the New Zealand ■ Association next October with the object of discussions to bring into line, improved methods of lifesaving, thus facilitating future interchanges of visits by teams from each country.
