Eden, won both liis games yesterday, each by fairly comfortable margins, and goes on to post-sectional play. In n strong section TJ. P. Munn, Canterbury-, J. M. Giles, United, and W. Fleming, Otaki Railway, all qualified. Munn, who has three times previously boon in the winning four, had ft narrow win in his seventh game over J. J. Davis, Kaituna, the score being ill—l 9, hut in the eighth round lie comfortably beat J. B. Gauntlett, Lyall Bay, 26—19. Two other fours in Section U also qualified, those skipped by J. M. Giles, United, and W. Fleming, Otaki Railway. In the seventh round Giles beat IT. Haworth, Wanganui, 31—16. This was a particularly meritorious performance _as Haworth was skipping a strong family rink. C. Spearman, Christchurch R.S.A., winner of tho fours title in 1944, won both his games and qualified. In his eighth round lie was down 2—12 when 10 heads had been played against H. McNamara, Awatere, hut his rink recovered strongly and won 26 —21. Spearman has been playing excellent bowls and his rink will bo hard to beat in the post-sectional play. T. G. Fox, Christchurch, won both his gomes yesterday in the sectional play and qualified. Tho Hamilton rink skipped by T. W. Geo scored two wins in the same section and has qualified for post-sectional play, Gee and his third, D. J. O'Neill, are both accurate drivers and have at times upset heads in which they have been several shots down. Tho Sydenham rink skipped by R. D. Kennerley, who has recently returned from service overseas, qualified for post-sectional play in Section U and tho rink has some good performances to its credit.
