Mr. R. Cade has returned to Auckland after a brief visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cade, Herbert road. Mr. H. R. Kendon left this morning for Auckland, where his mother, Mrs. M. Kendon, is seriously 111. Mrs. Kendon is aged 97 years. Mr. A. Lake, an inspector of schools in Canterbury for the past 10 years, has been appointed senior inspector of schools in Nelson.

Maxfield, who returned from overseas in September of last year. Mrs. Maxfield hails from Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. Mr. W. Morrison, chief inspector in New Zealand of the Union Bank of Australia, lias been elected chairman of the Associated Banks in succession to Mr. E. A. Cameron, who retired recently from the position of inspector of the Bank of Australasia. Mr. Morrison joined the bank in London and came to New Zealand in 1904. He was appointed chief inspector at the end of 1944.
