DELEGATES CONFER

EDUCATION CHANGES [(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 18. A conference of 50 delegates representing Catholic teachers throughout New Zealand has been held in Wellington during the past three days. The conference was opened by Archbishop O’Shea and attended by Bishop Liston, Auckland, Bishop Lyons, Christchurch, and Bishop O’Neill, Dunedin. The conference was called by the hierarchy to complete the work of the conference held in Wellington a year ago and to study the syllabuses and to

form plans for the carrying out of the policies of the Education Department as given in the regulations issued in December.

Bishop Liston, who presided at the conference, paid a tribute to the work of the director of education, Dr. C. E. Beeby, and the officials of the department, and referred to their courteous guidance of teacehrs in State and private schools in preparation for the important changes which become effective this year.
