SWIMMING RECORD
DUNEDIN. Jan. 15. One New Zealand record was broken at the Otapo swimming championships on Tuesday nijeht. This was accomplished hy Npriiirc Lane, New Zealand women’s champion, in a solo swim in the 220yds. Women's backstroke championship, in which she succeeded in lowering her own Dominion record from .'iniin. O.lscc. to limin. 7’ree. Shea established tho record at Auckland in 1944. Miss Lane lowered her own Otago record hy 2,',soc. This is the fourth successive year in which she has established a New Zealand record over one distance or another.
