NEW UNRRA SERVICE
LIVESTOCK SECRETARIAT
DATA ON DISEASES
(10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 18. Decisions of importance to the livestock industries of the Pacific countries were reached at the veterinary conference called by UNRRA, which ended yesterday.
The conference approved of the fqrmation by UNRRA’s South-West Pacific area office of an international, veterinary and livestock secretariat. It was originally Droposed that this secretariat should collect and circulate to member nations information on animal diseases, particularly those affecting traffic in animals and animal products, for relief and rehabilitation. It was decided that the secretariat should circulate information also on the breeding and feeding of livestock, as these, too. are important factors in rebuilding flocks and herds which were reduced or destroyed by war.
