ADDITIONAL ARRESTS
MACARTHUR’S ORDER
PRISON CAMP OFFICIALS
TOKIO, Dec. 16.
General MacArthur has ordered the arrest of 69 additional war prisoner camp officials, guards and civilian employees for atrocities against Allied prisoners. The camps involved include 30 in Japan and several in Manchuria. Promptly after the announcement of Prince Konoye's suicide Mr. John Keenan, the prosecutor, issued a statement telling the Japanese that there was nothing to fear if they were innocent and their consciences were clear. He said anyone who committed suicide did so as a result of unsound mind or an unsound and unwarranted estimate of American justice.
