NEW ORGANISATION
Dairy farmers in Australia want to see a statutory body established on a permanent basis to look after the interests of their industry. This was decider! at a meeting of the executive of the Primary Producers’ Union in Sydney.
It was suggested that each State should have a completely representative dairy industry committee, and that the chairman and certain other members should constitute the Federal committee.
Among the functions of the now body would be to co-ordinate investigations into costs of production and advise the Commonwealth Government regarding their implementation; to advise the Government in regard to its commitments to the Food and Agriculture Organisation; to administer industry funds accumulated by the Dairy Produce Board under National Security Regulations.
ISSUE RAPIDLY FILLED
The issue of new shares in Turnbull and Jones, Limited, electrical engineers, of Wellington, was oversubscribed in five minutes. The shares offered to the public were 60,000 ft ordinary shares, at a premium of 2s Gil, and 16,000 5 per cent noil-cumulative preference shares at par. The subscription list was opened at 10 a.m, and closed at 10,5 a.m. on Wednesday,
