POSITION EASIER
SHIPS FOR TROOPING AFRICANS ALSO WAITING (P.R.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 25. Further details of the arrangements for returning troops were given to the House of Representatives yesterday by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones. He said that the shiping position was considerably easier, but the supply was not ns great as New Zealand would like, as there were demands for ships from other Allied forces wishing to return to their homes. He understood that about 30,000 South Africans located somewhere near Maadi had been complaining bitterly that ships were not made available for them to get back home. As for the New Zealand Division, he hoped the 10th Reinforcements would be back before Christmas and that the 11th would leave by the middle of December and be back about March or April. It had also to be remembered that the brigade had to be transported.
