WESTFIELD SALE MAIN LINES EASE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 25. Easing tendencies for beef, sheep, and lambs were shown at the Westfield stock sale yesterday. Prices for calves remained firm, while the pig market showed sign of improving. Beef.—Fully average numbers of beef were penned and although there was a steady demand values were easier by Is to 2s per 1001 b. particularly for heavier weight cattle. Extra choice ox made to £2 16s per 1001 b. choice and prime £2 11s to £2 15s, ordinary £2 6s to £2 10s; extra prime heifer to £2 13s, choice and prime £2 Os to £2 12s; ordinary cow £2 to £2 7s, Extra heavy prime steers sold from £24 to £25 10s, heavy £22 to £23 15s, medium £l9 5s to £2l 15s: light £lO to £l9, small and unfinished £l2 10s 1.0 £ls 17s (id; extra heavy prime cow and heifer £ls to £lO 12? Pigs.—There was an increased entry of pigs and values for baconers were firm while prices for porkers and buttermilk pigs improved. Stores realised late quotations.
