Puidy has again taken the lead in the Australian chess championship, but the New South Wales champion, Steiner, will he ahead of him it he wins his adjourned game with l l ’. A. Growl. Victoria. Purdy last night defeated Watson. The title-holder, Koshnileky. obtained the opening advantage against Wiule. In the end game Koshnitsky was able to secure a winning position but mishandled it and the game was drawn. The leading scores after seven rounds are: Purdy sj, Steiner 5 (with one adjourned), Lazare, 41 (one adjourned), Wade 41, Koshnitsky 4. Harris 4.
