MAIZE ACREAGE
DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE "So far we have received a definite assurance for only 135 acres of the 7000 acres of maize required to be grown in this district this season,” stated Mr. A. R. Trafford, secretary of the Gisborne Primary Production Council, when asked by a Herald reporter how farmers were responding to the appeal for increased acreage. "It is very disappointing that growers have not yet notified us of the acreages they intend to grow. An early response would be appreciated by this council as well as being to the advantage of the grower.” Mr. Trafford declared.
