MANAWATU GORGE SLIP
(P.A.) PALMERSTON N„ Sept. 3. The railway through the Manawatu Gorge is blocked by a large slip, which occurred yesterday morning. Though the line was nearly cleared at 5 o’clock yesterday, heavy rain later brought down further debris. Railway officials are uncertain when trains will be able to get through. Passengers on the express are being transported by road between Ashhurst and WoodvilJe.
