NEW U.S. COMMAND
MID-PACIFIC ZONE (10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 3. Lieutenant-General .Robert Richardson, commander of the Pacific Oceans Area, announced that General MacArthur has placed him in charge of a new Middle Pacific Command, comparable to the Western Pacific Command recently established under Lieutenant-General Wilhelm Styer. General Richardson’s command includes Okinawa and the former South Pacfiic area. General Styer has the former South-west Pacific area.
