Freyberg Banner Presented
In the presence of a representative gathering of Wellington citizens and members of Parliament, the acting Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Nash, yesterday presented the Freyberg banner to the Wellington City for heading ihe 20 New Zealand districts in contributions to the Victory Loan. Mr. Nash congratulated Wellington on being the first to reach 100 per cent apdi also for having the highest Percentage, with 119 per cent. Mr. T. N. Smallwood, deputy chairman of the National War Loan Council, also congrnttilated the winners and then Mr. Nash handed the banner to the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. W. Appleton, who in a brief reply said the result had been due to team-work. Mr. R. H. Nimmo, chairman of the Wellington committee, also renlied and naid a tribute to the way in which Wellington organisations had worked together.—P.A.
