INDIAN CABINET
NOMINEES INVITED ATTITUDE OF CONGRESS EXPLORE ALL CHANCES LONDON, July 1. The Viceroy, Lord Wavell, has invited the groups attending the conference at Simla to submit a list of names of nominees for appointment to the Executive Council by next Friday, says Reuter’s correspondent in Simla. Well-informed circles state that the position of the conference is virtually the same as when the talks on the Indianisation of the council were opened. The Congress Party is prepared to explore every opening for the settlement of the conference, said Mr. Nehru, secretary of the party, in a speech broadcast by the New Delhi radio. < It was clear that the conference would not produce a permanent solution of the Indian problem but would at least open the way. The Indian people were a great force, and. if disciplined, would achieve great things, but they would go down if they allowed their great force to be dissipated by petty squabbles. Mr. Nehru was given an enthusiastic reception when he arrived at Simla for talks with the president, Dr. Azad.
