(P.A.) HASTINGS. June 29. What is probably an all-time record for sheep and lamb killings for tiny works in New Zealand has been established at the Hawke’s Bay Far ; mers’ Meat Company’s 1 works at Whakatu this season. By the time the works cease operations for the season this afternoon the" total ‘sheep and lamb killing will have reached 814,000 carcases, compared with 829,000 last season, which was the pfe vious Whakatu record. The sheep handled this year averaged out at about 3.?1b iheaVier than the previous .season; while the lambs were just a fraction heavier. Beef killings total about 16,000 head for the season, which is the best, season Whakatu has' had for ox ; beef.
