“During the recent visit of Mr. W. J. Mawson, Government town planner, to Gisborne, I took the opportunity of discussing with him matters in connection with the council s towi planning proposals,” reported tlw (town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, at Tuesdav night’s meeting ol' the Gisborne Borough Council. “Mr. Mawson inspected the plans so far prepared and was agreeably surprised to find that so much headway had been made. In his opinion there was not a great deal of Work involved in bringing these civil survey maps up-to-date and he offered to make available to the council a draughtsman attached to his office—the council to pay his salary and travelling expenses. Mr. Mawson offered his own assistance in plotting zones, new roads, and the reservation of land for new reserves after the completion of the civic survey maps. The council recorded its approval of the town clerk’s action, and accepted Mr. Mawson’s offer with thanks.
