AIR SERVICE

PLANE ON MONDAY TIMETABLE APPROVED The resumed Gisborne air service will commence on Monday, and the first plane is due from Palmerston North at 4.15 p.m. It will leave for Auckland at 7.45 a.m. on Tuesday. Approval has been given Union Airways, Limited, for the following timetable:—lnward service: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Depart Palmerston North, 2.60 p.m.; arrive Napier, 3.20 p.m.; depart Napier, 3.30 p.m.; arrive Gisborne, 4.15 p.m. Outward north.—Tuesday and Thursday: Depart Gisborne, 7.45 a.m., arrive Auckland. 9.45 a.m.; depart Auckland, 2.15 p.m.; arrive Gisborne. 4 p.m. Outward south—-Wednesday. Friday, Saturday: Depart Gisborne, 7.45 a.ni.; arrive Napier, 8.30 a.m.; depart Napier, 8.40 a.m.; arrive Palmerston North, 9.30 a.m. The service has been so arranged as to fit in with the restricted train service south. Thus on Tuesday and Thursday when there are trains south, the plane makes return trips between Gisborne and Auckland and on Friday goes to’Palmerston North and back. On Saturday there is a flight only one way to Palmerston North, provision being made in this way for tile machine to receive engineering attention each week-end. Efforts are being made by the company to have started as soon as possible after Easter a two-dav-a-week service between Palmerston North and Wellington. The proposed timetable is for a plane to leave Palmerston North on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m., arrive at Wellington at 10.40 a.m.. leave at 1.30 p.m., and arrive back at Palmerston North at 2.10 p.m. to connect with the 2.30 p.m. plane for Gisborne.
