WAR GRATUITY RATES
AUSTRALIAN PROPOSALS UO a.m.) CANBERRA, Feb. 9. The Australian war gratuity may be 2s 3d lor every day of service in operational zones and 9d for other service. The gratuity, which will be the same for all ranks from generals to privates, is at present under consideration by a special all-party committee.
the proposed Australian scheme, which will cost about .11150,000,000 according to the estimates ot Treasury officials, is more generous than the British plan which also provides for officers receiving more Hum the rank and iile. The time fixed for payment will probably be two years after the war.
