GENERAL DECREASE
DISTRICT RAINFALL ONLY ONE EXCEPTION With the exception of one station, a ftenernl decrease in rainfall was indicated last; month in the Gisborne and Coast districts when the figures received are compared with I those registered for the corresponding month in 10-14. In most cases the decline was only , slight, but at one statioii a difference of nearly Sin. was shown. Falls on the whole were littht. The only station with a January increase was Marumoko, Motn, which recorded "in. more than last year. The maximum oneday fall last month was it. 24 in. on January 10. The month at this station was dull and overcast, with rain on many of the days until January 20. but brilliant sunshine prevailed for the remainder of the month. The weather at Rukuhnngn station. Capo Runaway, was very warm last month with only lijrht falls of rain. The lowest rainfall of any of the stations with returns so far to hand was registered at this station. The heaviest 24-hour fall last month was 1.01 in. on January 14. Thirteen hot [lays occurred duriiitr the month, the majority of them between January 22 and til.
