BATTLING FOR FRANKFURT AND KUSTRIN KONIEV’S FORCES EXPAND BRIDGEHEAD (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 9. The right flank of the Russian armies under Marshal Zhukov on the central Oder front is fighting within 20 miles of the Baltic port of Stettin on the lower reaches of the river. In this thrust towards the Baltic the Russian forces cleared over 100 places to-day. The central forces clearing the east bank of the Oder have broken into the outer defences of the fortress of Frankfurt where a fierce struggle is in progress, and have succeeded in reaching the rear of the other bastion of Kustrjn. The Russians are massed in great strength along the river opposite Berlin. Marshal Koniev’s forces in Silesia, have expanded their bridgehead on the west bank of the Oder in heavy fighting and a new attack is reported south-west of Cracow on the Czechoslovak frontier. < . , '
