MAKARAKA RACES
TO-MORROW’S EVENTS ACCEPTORS ARRIVED The success of the Wairoa club’s fixture last week augurs well for the Poverty Bay Turf Club's summer meeting, to be held to-morrow at the Makaraka course. Fields for the various events should be equal to those seen at Wairoa, with the exception of those restricted to maidens, and the public should have ample scope for the speculative instinct. The first race on the programme, the Poverty Bay Hurdles, will start at 12.45 p.m„ and the starting-time. l ! of the other races are: —Taruheru Hack Handicap. 1.25 p.m.; Gisborne Handicap, 2.5 p.m.; Maiden Stakes. 2.45 p.m.; Waipaoa Champion Hack Handicap, 3.25 p.m.: Turanga Stakes Handicap, 4.5 p.m.: and Waimata Hack Handicap, 4.45 p.m. The judge will bo Mr, P. A. Pettit, and the starter Mr. L. Murray, these two making a well-experienced team which has done well by the club and its patrons in the past
All horses accepted for at the meeting arc now in Gisborne, a further consignment of Hawke’s Bay runners which arrived yesterday included Lord Theio, Jonathan Joe, Dark Morning. Tnkrouna. Curtail, Joseph Conrad, and Barrosa.
