OBITUARY
MR. J. F. JOHNSTONE
The death occurred at Cook Hospital last evening, after a short illness, of Mr. James Frederick Johnstone, aged 79. Mr. Johnstone was widely known in the country areas, in which during the past 25 years he had done business as a registered wool-buyer. , 1 Born in Hampden. Otago, he went into the timber industry as a youth, and followed the milling business for many years. He married at Waihi, at the age of 32. his wife being formerly Miss Ellen Dorreen. They came to Gisborne shortly afterwards, and Mr. Johnstone continued to work in the timber business until 25 years ago. when he took up wool-buying with some success. He was popular and well-respected throughout the district. lie is survived by Mrs. Johnstone and two sons and three daughters. The sons are Mr. A. Johnstone, now serving with the forces, and Mr. F. Johnstone, Gisborne; the daughters are Mrs. G. Griffon. Waerenga-o-kuri, Mrs. J. Croskcrry, Wellington, and Mrs. J. Newton. Napier. There are also six grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow, after a service at Cochrane’s chapel at 3 p.m. The burial will be, at Taruheru cemetery, I
