TEACHERS’ SALARIES
EARLY REVIEW URGED MOVE IN AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 8. In reply to representations by the Auckland" Education Board for an increase in the salaries of the Warning college teachers, the Education Department to-day advised the board that the salaries of training college lecturers had been adjusted with those of the primary school teachers when the teachers’ salaries regu'ations were drawn up in 1939. The question of salaries of lecturers could be 'reviewed when teachers’ salaries were reconsidered. The board decided to again communicate with the department in order to prevent further discontent adversely affecting the work, of education. The board earnestly requested that an early date be set for consideration of the whole question of recruitment, pay and the formation of all education workers. It was also decided to urge the need for a higher-scale income for teachers as a whole than Aor manual workers, ana the early removal of anomalies between the various sections of the profession.
