Areas ot the city affected by the Kav.au Stream arc under water where it broke its banks. There was more flooding in the Takaro section, where the bowling green and tennis courts were covered with water, which also flooded the grounds of several homes. The Mangaone Stream is flooded in several places and a large area of pasture land is inundated and the whole countryside saturated. In December there was over 7in. of rain, an extraordinarily high figure, and the latest rains are responsible for farm lands having much surfacewater on them.
