YOUNG MAN CHARGED

FATHER IN HOSPITAL

A voting' man. Thomas Joseph Buddy Prior, aged 18, millhand. appeared before Mr. J. Molding. S.M. in Auckland charged with the attempted murder of Thomas Leslie Prier, farmer, at Katikati, on December 20. He was not represented by counsel.

Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said that, at the request of the Hamilton police, he was asking for a remand of one week until January 11. "On that date." said Mr. Trethewey. "I intend to ask for another remand, and further remands after that, may also be necessary. Accused’s father, whom it is alleged he attempted to murder, is at present in hospital.”

The magistrate granted the remand

The injured man suffered a bullet wound in the groin from a .22 rille. His condition was not serious when he was taken to the Waihi Hospital.
