Polish Authority The Lublin Provisional Government of Poland lias announced I|iat it would refuse to honour future financial commitments of the Polish Government in London. This declaration does not apply to past commitments. New Governor-General Tlie Duke of Gloucester may open ilie Federal Parliament on February 21. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will probably he in Canberra for some time before Parliament opens and tlie Duke will lie sworn in as Governor-General as soon as possible after his arrival, states a message from Canberra. Official gatherings planned for tlie Duke and the Duchess have been cut to a minimum, and a reception at Parliament House
will be limited to 100 guests, including Federal Ministers, foreign Ministers, High Commissioners and State Premiers. Intending non-official visitors to Canberra for the Duke's arrival have been advised to stay away because they will have little chance of gelling accommodation.
