“SUPER-FORTS” AGAIN OSAKA AND NAGOYA INCENDIARY ATTACK 10 am) WASHINGTON, Jan. 3. A War Department communique announced that Super-Fortresses from Saipan in daylight to-day attacked industrial targets on Honshu Island. Brigadiei'-General Jlansell, commander of the 21st Bomber Comnand, has moved his headquarters to Guam from Saipan. To-day s strike 'gainst Japan was the first directed from Guam. The Associated Press correspon'ont on Guam says that the SuperFortresses’ offensive entered a new 'base to-day when a sizeable torce left Guam and rained bombs r" Nagoya. The planes took ofl m fine weather and carried a bomb-lcai equalling the largest yet sent against fokio. It is expected that there will be Super-Fortress bases on all three islands —Guam, Saipan and Tinian. General Hansell’s control building on Guam is designed to enable b’m * r maintain the closest communication with each Super-Fortress unit on the other islands and with Washington. The Tokio radio announced that several formations of Super-For-tresses from the Marianas this afternoon bombed Osaka and Nagoya. The 'nemv dropped incendiary bombs, which caused negligible damage. Some planes were shot down.
